충남도는 지역축제를 보다 경쟁력 있는 문화관광자원으로 육성하기 위하여 도내 우수 지역축제를 道 대표축제로 선정하여 집중 지원하는 사업을 추진하고 있다.

도는 이를 위해 지난 11월 약 한달 동안 도비지원 지역축제 공모를 실시한 결과 14개 시군에서 17개 축제를 신청받았으며, 지난 24일 전문가로 구성된 충청남도 축제육성위원회를 개최하여 2011년도 충청남도 대표축제를 선정했다.

그러나 논산시는 도 로부터 관련 공문을 받고 딸기 축제 대추축제 고구마축제 등을 신청하고자 했으나 시간이 촉박하며 공모에 필요한 제반 구비서류 등을 구비하지 못했다는 이유로 신청조차 하지못했던 것으로 알려져 빈축을 사고 있다.

○ 道 대표축제(3건)

- 최우수 : 부여 서동연꽃축제

- 우 수 : 서산해미읍성축제

- 유 망 : 공주알밤축제

○ 예비축제(6건) : 예산옛이야기축제, 홍성내포장터축제

당진상록문화제, 보령 무창포신비의바닷길축제,

서천 동백꽃‧주꾸미축제, 천안 판페스티발

대표축제 선정기준은 관광객 유치가능성, 축제기획의 전문성 확보, 축제기반시설, 지역문화 보존 및 계승 등 항목을 평가하여 최종적으로 9개의 축제를 선정하였으며, 도는 2011년도에 도 최우수축제에 1억원, 우수축제에 대해서는 5천만원, 유망축제에는 3천만원을 지원하며 예비축제는 2천만원을 각각 지원한다.

한편 충청남도에서는 민선이후 경쟁력 없는 행사성 소모성 지역축제가 급증함에 따라, ’07년 충청남도 축제육성위원회를 구성하고 공모와 심의를 통하여 축제를 지원하고 있다.

도 관계자는 “축제육성위원회를 중심으로 지역축제의 경쟁력을 제고 하고 시군과 긴밀한 협력을 통하여 지역주민의 자발적인 참여속에 경쟁력이 높은 축제를 육성 할 수 있도록 최선의 노력을 다해 나갈 계획”이라고 밝혔다. In a related move, the province, as a result of the subscription during last November for financial support, has gotten applications of 17 festivals form the 14 cities, so that, at 24th of this month, the province selects the representative festival of New year’s South Chungcheong by opening the festival fostering committee that is consist of experts

The fact that Nonsan city had tried to apply for that with strawberry fest, jujube fest, sweet potato fest and so on, after they got the official document, but they didn’t even have an application for the support because of the reasons like that they didn’t prepared all of necessary documents and etc. was frowned by people.

○ Provincial representative Festival (3 cases)

The standard of the selection; capability of inducement of tourists, expertise of festival planning, infrastructure, preservation and succession of the local culture, picked nine of festivals and the province will supports one hundred million won to ‘the best fest, a fifty million won to ‘the excellent fest’, thirty million won to ‘the bright prospect fest’ and twenty million won to ‘the preliminary fest’ each.

In the other hand, by increasing the wasting local festival which is not competitive after popular election, the South Chungcheong Province had made the ‘festival fostering committee of 2007’ and been supporting the local festivals with the contest and consideration

The administration said that they will reconsider the competitive power of local festivals through ‘Festival fostering committee’ and do their best to foster the competitive local festivals with voluntary participations of the people.
